Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede CFR is an investor, banker and philanthropist with a track record of major accomplishments in the profit and non-profit sectors. As co-founder of the Tengen Family Office, he oversees a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of investments encompassing banking, finance, insurance, technology, real estate and energy.

Through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Aigboje and his wife, Ofovwe, drive impactful initiatives focused on grooming Nigeria's future government leaders, helping transform public sector effectiveness, and improving access to quality primary healthcare.

Following a management buy-in transaction, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede led the acquisition of Access Bank Plc and was appointed Managing Director/CEO in 2002. Under his leadership, Access Bank was transformed from a minor player into a leading African Bank with a significant global footprint. Having retired as CEO in 2013, he returned in March 2024 as Chairman of Access Holdings Plc. He is also Chairman of Coronation Group, a leading African Investment management conglomerate.

He was founding Chairman of the FMDQ Securities Exchange and served as President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2013, becoming the first African to chair two national exchange platforms. His advocacy for sustainable banking practices and financial market reform has earned him global recognition.

In 2012, he was appointed Chair of the Presidential Committee on the Verification of Fuel Subsidies. His oversight of the process is widely credited with saving Nigeria billions of dollars in fraudulent fuel subsidy payments.

He continues to spearhead impactful initiatives like the Adopt-A-Healthcare-Facility Programme, reinforcing his commitment to transformative change and social progress. He holds a law degree from the University of Benin and was called to the Bar in Nigeria. He also holds a Trium MBA awarded jointly by the London School of Economics, New York University and HEC Paris. Aigboje is the author of the bestseller “Leaving the Tarmac: Buying a Bank in Africa”.
