Our Director of Programmes, Chioma Njoku, represented the Foundation at the launch of the maiden edition of the Public Service Delivery Index in Africa (PSDI) 2024 Report, hosted by the African Development Bank Group.

Africa CEO Forum: Strengthening Africa’s Economic Agenda

At this year’s Africa CEO Forum, we participated in global discussions on business sustainability and digital governance. Our Chairman, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, shared insights on driving sustainable transformation of family-owned businesses, while our Director of Programmes, Chioma Njoku, led a panel on the role of Artificial Intelligence in enhancing public service delivery.

AIG Fellowship: Enhancing Policy Implementation across Africa

Applications are now open for the 2025 AIG Fellowship. The fellowship offers a unique opportunity for outstanding public sector leaders to deepen their knowledge in public policy implementation. Delivered in partnership with the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, the fellowship equips exceptional public servants with practical knowledge and skills to develop lasting solutions to critical policy challenges.

As part of our efforts to improve access to quality primary healthcare in Nigeria, our Executive Vice Chair, Mrs Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Kelechi Ohiri. The visit focused on exploring collaborative strategies to expand insurance coverage to underserved populations in Nigeria.

Mental Health Awareness Week: The Power of Community

In support of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, we highlighted Mentaccess, a transformative initiative led by Dr. Fatima Ali, an alumna of the AIG Public Leaders Programme. The project is making a significant impact by improving access to mental health services for children and teenagers in rural areas of Borno State in Northern Nigeria.

Public Sector Training: Building Capacity for Sustainable Change

We partnered with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) to support management training for the Infrastructure Management Department and strategic communications training for the Communications Department. These sessions were designed to build the capacity of the civil servants, leading to improved effectiveness and enhancedpublic service delivery.

Advancing Public Sector Transformation through Digital Innovation

We believe that technology is a powerful tool for public sector transformation and therefore we are supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy to develop the Nigerian Web Design Standard (NWDS). This project is part of the work the Ministry is undertaking, to develop a unified, user-friendly platform that will make public services more accessible, responsive, and citizen centred.

As part of our work in developing the capacity of public sector leaders, we recently partnered with Workforce Group to host an impactful upskilling event for the public servants who make up our Alumni Association. With the theme “Effective Proposal and Report Writing,” the training session provided them with essential communication skills crucial to effective delivery of their roles.

We hosted an insightful Webinar titled “Accelerating Action: Transforming public service,” at which female public sector leaders, who are part of our alumni association, led the discussion on the public service in Africa and women’s representation in it.

Closing Ceremony AIG Public Leaders Programme 2024

This month, we celebrated the graduation of the fourth cohort of our AIG Public Leaders Programme, an executive education programme for public servants, delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. The closing ceremony, held in Abuja, honoured participants from Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda who completed the intensive training designed to strengthen public service delivery across Africa.

Here in Nigeria, health workers like Furera Aliyu have seen firsthand how economic hardship affects vaccination efforts. After the pandemic, Aliyu met parents hesitant to vaccinate their children, not just because of misinformation, but because survival took priority over healthcare. With job losses, business closures, and declining national revenues, millions of Nigerian families struggled to meet basic needs, let alone prioritise vaccinations.
